Week 7 Reflection
- List your 5-7 interview questions.
- What are your biggest weaknesses?
- What are your biggest strengths?
- Where do you see yourself in five years?
- Why do you want this job?
- What is your leadership style?
- Tell me about the last time a co-worker or customer got angry with you. What happened?
- What did you learn from your interview experience?
I learned that interview, even mock interviews, can be super stressful. I have only been on 3 interviews. One is for my current job and I got hired on the spot. The second would be my field studies interview. What I learned is that you need to prepared for any type of question. The interviewer has the right to ask me any type of questions and I need to be mentally prepared with past situations, current opinions, and standpoints, so that I can answer them on the spot. When being in an interview, it’s important to study the job role and the company itself. Having as much knowledge in these areas will always look good on your behalf.
- What kinds of feedback did you get back from the interviewer?
Some feedback that I got was that I was unsure is some of the questions that pertained to my past experiences. It’s more difficult for me to think of a past event on the spot because the pressure is so high. Also, that I needed to maintain eye contact more throughout the interview.
- Explain how you plan to apply the feedback you’ve received to future interview opportunities and what if any tips from https://www.pluralsight.com/blog/career/15-tips-on-how-to-nail-a-face-to-face-intervie (Links to an external site.)
From the feedback that I received, something that I can do in the future is look up the most common interview questions and write out answers to those. Then, I can memorize the answers that I created. This can also apply to previous experiences where I can write down everything related to possible interview questions, that way I won’t have to try to think of those on the spot. In regard to eye contact, I will begin practicing on a daily basis with those around me. I will be sure to practice keeping eye contact while I am speaking and also when they are speaking.
- Relate what you have learned to this week’s readings, articles or your past experience.
In chapter 9 of our book, the authors talk about the Power of Will. Will in the intention and determination to make a change occur. When reflecting on my weaknesses and solutions from interview feedback, I will use my will power to overcome and become confident in front of others. The feedback my friend gave was right and I know that a lot of it has to do with insecurities of mine. But the mere fact that I recognize this area that I can change is already a big step! Now would the time for the power of will and effort to kick in.
